Weston In The Rain

There's no need to let rain stop play in Weston-super-Mare because you can have plenty of fun in Weston whatever the weather.

So, even if it does start raining, or as we prefer to call it, we are washing our streets for all our visitors, there is no need to let it dampen your spirits because we have got plenty going on indoors to ensure you can still have a fun-filled day out in Weston or within a short drive from our town.

The Grand Pier 

Come rain or shine the Grand Pier will be very high on your must-do list and although the views may not as spectacular you can still enjoy an action-packed fun-day even it is not a sun-day. That’s because all the rides and activities on the pier are all inside.

So while it’s chucking it down outside you can take your pick of things to do all under one roof including go-karts, dodgems, house of horrors, F1 simulators, a laser maze and helter skelter as well as dozens of arcade games. 

Wookey Hole 

If you want to escape the weather what better way of doing it than by disappearing deep underground at Wookey Hole caves? 
It’s not just a bolt-hole from the inclement weather but also a magical underground world to explore which we are sure will be a highlight of your holiday. As well as the caves, there's plenty of other indoor bits including a wall or mirrors which, if you choose the right one can make you look super-slim or if you choose a different one could make you double in size. There's also a Victorian arcade and weekend circus workshops, a museum and 3D circus.

Crazy Golf

Crazy golf. That’s right, crazy golf. We love crazy golf so much here in Weston that we don't let the rain stop us and that's why we’ve got indoor and outdoor versions of this all-time seaside favourite. 
So even if it's raining, you can ditch that golfing umbrella and still enjoy a game at one of our two indoor courses.
Firstly, there’s glow-in-the-dark crazy golf at the Revo Bar and Kitchen up on the seafront, which adds an all-new dimension to the game; or, secondly, there’s a more traditional indoor crazy golf course on the Grand Pier.

Clip 'n Climb

Teenagers on a wet holiday or a wet day out can be among the hardest people to please but we reckon we've nailed it at Clip n' Climb. With the the highest vertical drop slide in the UK and also the thrilling Leap of Faith experience there's more than enough to get their eyes lighting up. There's also plenty of introductory challenges and climbing walls to suit the very youngest to the very oldest and the instructors are brilliantly patient, understanding and helpful.

Helicopter Museum

Did you know that Weston is home to Europe’s largest helicopter museum? And did you know that the vast majority of its helicopters are stored nice and dry inside one great big hangar. 

Laser Quest

Weston’s newest tourist attraction is so much more than just a place to shelter in the rain – Laser Quest, on North Street, is a place where you'll become so obsessed with zapping people with your laser gun and avoiding being zapped while navigating your way around - that you'll totally forget what the weather is doing outside. 

Weston Museum & Banksy

When you think of Banksy you think of street art and that means outdoors yeah? But not here in Weston. Our Banksy is tucked away warm and dry in our fascinating free town museum.
As well as having the chance to admire Banksy’s giant pinwheel – part of his former Dismaland exhibition in Weston – you will also be able to watch fascinating news reels of Weston from yesteryear, step back in time (literally) to the Victorian era by visiting the adjoining free Clara’s Cottage, and also try on items of period clothing such as a swimming hat similar to the one worn by Weston’s four times Olympic gold medallist Paolo Radmilovic. The information surrounding the exhibits is short, fun and snappy, so it is easily digestible. The museum also has a lovely cafe. 

Curzon Cinema

Going to Clevedon's Curzon Cinema is so much more than going to watch a film. It is an experience in itself. It first opened five days after the Titanic disaster with a matinee performance to raise money for the relatives of the victims and has been entertaining the people of Clevedon ever since. From the moment you walk in through the door you will feel like you're embarking on a classic rewind into time with cinematic memorabillia dotted all around the welcome and bar areas. There is only one screen but it does show a great selection of films, including the modern blockbusters and quite a few matinees. It also has some really good prices but it is well worth paying an extra quid to sit in the newly-restored balcony. From there, you'll get to feel like a real-life VIP watching your chosen film with loads of space around you from the most comfortable arm chairs or twin sofas. If you're looking for that special date night or memorable experience, then the Curzon balcony is the way to go.

Oakham Treasures

People of all ages will love this gem of a museum which, depending on your age, is crammed full of all those things that either your mum and dad used to use or your grandparents or great grandparents once used. This museum started out as a private collection but has mushroomed into a super-sized indoor award-winning museum which even has areas set aside for full shop displays from the era. If farming, machinery and vehicles are your passion, you will be lost in there for hours. Oakham is situated very close to Gordano Services on the Northbound M5 at junction 19. It is well worth the trip up for a day out or, if you're heading home northbound, it makes a perfect stop en-route if you have decided to trim your stay because of bad weather. It is open Tuesdays to Saturdays.

Bowling at Allstars

Bring out your competitive edge with a game of ten-pin bowling at the Allstars bowling complex in Dolphin Square. There's also darts, like you've never played it before, as well as shuffleboards, pool and even a karaoke booth. 

Lock and Code

Lock yourself away in one of our Lock and Code Escape and you will soon become so immersed in trying to work out the clues to fathom your way out that you will totally forget what the weather is doing outside. The Lock and Code rooms at Wolvershill, West Wick, have three different escape rooms to choose from varying in levels of difficulty. Allstars is another venue with escape rooms.

The Stable Games Room

This town centre venue, opposite The Playhouse, is fabulous whatever the weather with hundreds of free-to-play board games. 

X-Treme Air

Hutton Moor Leisure Centre has an indoor inflatable obstacle course. It has 370 square metres of obstacles and fun activities, including a bash and parkour area, wipeout balls, an obstacle challenge course, a freefall and slide, and a corner slide with built-in interactive area. Those brave enough can even attempt to scale the Jelly Mountain. 

The Activity Dome

The Activity Dome at 17 North Street offers indoor Axe Throwing, pottery, Smart Darts and pool.
