Dog Friendly Weston-super-Mare

Your guide to visiting Weston-super-Mare with your four-legged friends.

Here at Visit Weston we understand that a family visit to the seaside should mean the whole family; two legs and four. With many accommodation providers gladly accepting doggy guests, there are many local tourist attractions, eateries and shops also happy to welcome you and your dogs through their doors all year round.

Dog Walking

Dogs are permitted to enjoy the beach areas marked with pawprints on the map, all year round. These are the streches of beach between The Grand Pier and Knightstone Island and towards Uphill, beyond the Royal Sands car park at the south of the beach. The area between Royal Sands and the Grand Pier marked in blue on the map, is off-limits to dogs from 1st May to 30th September between 9am and 7pm and dogs are not permitted at Marine Lake.

As well as beach walks for your dog to enjoy, there's a great number of parks and green spaces also available to explore. 

Weston Woods

A mile-and-a-half route from the entrance to the hillfort. The main entrance by Worlebury Hill Road has free parking available, alternatively walk along the seafront promenade past Marine Lake, right into Upper Kewstoke Road, turning right into Camp Road and left into the dead end of Camp Road, where you will find steps to climb to the woodland entrance.

Clarence Park

Across Beach Road from the Promenade at the south end, you will find the charming Clarence Park. Half of the park allows off-lead walking, however dogs must be kept on their leads in the other designated areas.

Ashcombe Park

One mile inland is the sprawling Ashcombe Park where are dogs are permitting to roam off the lead throughout - with the exception of fenced playground areas. 

Sand Bay Beach

A short car journey or bus ride away lies Sand Bay beach. Head along the old 'Toll Road' on the number 1 bus with your dog and enjoy a vast area of dog-friendly beach all year round, as well as the Sand Bay Tea Room where doggy Afternoon Cream Teas are served!

There is a great selection of dog-friendly eateries in and around Weston, so nobody has to miss out on a memorable meal out when you're enjoying your visit. Whilst most venues will allow dogs in their outdoor spaces, beer gardens or pavement cafes, a good number will also permit dogs inside the building. We have listed many of those, here:
